Stock alert: PNRA

Just saw their stock hit another 52-week high! I still haven't purchased any of their stock. I thought about buying some back in December...when it was trading at around $100/share. It's now at $129.

Two old men, a cashier, and a Sierra Turkey at the Pickerington Panera...

On a recent early morning weekend drive back home, I stopped by the Pickerington Panera located directly of I-70. Because I was in a relative hurry to get to home, I just ordered this to go. Here are the details of this visit:

Date visited: Sunday, March 6
Time of day: 7 AM
Those in attendance: Me
Items ordered: Sierra Turkey on wheat, opted for the apple as the side, and of course unsweet tea.

The Layout/Experience.
The layout is very similar to the Dublin Panera on Avery Rd. I arrived at the Panera and the only other customers were two old men, who were sitting in a booth with their coffees no doubt solving the worlds problems. It seemed like it's a morning ritual for them to congregate there. The staff at this Panera was very nice, and fun...despite the fact that it was so early.

I will say, that it was this visit, that I really noticed how pressured I feel to order when I am at a Panera. There are so many options to choose from, and when you are standing there staring at the menu board, it can be overwhelming...especially when the cashiers are staring you down waiting to input the order. Due to this pressure to order...I once again caved on trying something new, and went with the sierra turkey.

Perhaps you noticed that it was 7am, and I ordered a turkey sandwich. Yes, it is weird. But sometimes I don't think a breakfast sandwich is very satisfying....especially one pretentiously prepared at a Panera type establishment. They put way too much emphasis on the fact that there is an egg on the sandwich and skimp on the meat and cheese. Therefore, I have for several years opted for lunch over breakfast, even at early hours of the morning.

Random NOTES.
  • I stopped by this Panera on my way back to my parents. I didn't even think about bringing back my moms favorite bagels until I was almost home. I felt terrible enough as it was on this omission. Then, after I get home and tell Deb where I stopped she asked why I didnt bring her back a bagel. Sorry, Deb.
Cinnamon Crunch bagel...Deb's fav.

  • This is a great location if you are driving through on 70. Easy on and off.

The walk-of-shame and the campus Panera...

Authors Note:
I am playing a bit of catch up on these posts. In this post, I review the Campus Panera from a visit on 2.26.2011.

After spending my Friday night in the downtown area, (and yes, maybe a visit to campus) it seemed the next logical stop on my Panera journey was the campus Panera located on High St. I once again was able to convince Abby and Kelly to join me on this review.

This was my second visit to this Panera in my life. Due to it's close proximity to south campus, there are several college students. The layout is almost like a maze. It is very split up and random. I did enjoy the windows looking onto High Street. The windows surround the entire dining area. Great for people watching, especially campus people watching (See random note).

Because this visit was from a while back ago, some of the details are fuzzy, so here are the highlights:

Date visited: 2.26.2011
Those in attendance: Me, Abby, Kelly
Items ordered:
Me: Chipotle chicken panini, greek salad, baguette, iced tea (I think); Abby: Tomato & Moz sandwich greek salad; Kelly: Turkey sandwich and mac n cheese
Time of day: 11ish
Meals from the left: Kelly (Turkey & Mac N Cheese); Abby (Sandwich, salad, danish); Me (Chipotle chicken, salad...)

So I do apologize for my lack of details. I can't remember what sandwich I ordered, from the looks of the picture and the options from the menu I am 90% sure it was the chipotle chicken. If I am correct...I will never order that sandwich again. Not my cup of tea. Sometimes when I order from Panera, the cashiers pressure me to order, even when I am not ready. It is frustrating.

Random NOTES.
  • I do remember talking up ordering the mac n cheese...then at the last minute, under pressure from the cashier, I caved and ordered my standard greek salad.
  • I see from the picture, Abby had a danish...which I think was a cash in from the MY PANERA card. Perhaps her first or second cash in from the card?
  • Kelly mentioned she wished Panera offered Coke products instead of Pepsi. I told her that would make the random notes section. Not sure how I remembered that piece of info.
  • We witnessed a girl doing the WALK OF SHAME! Yes, the walk of shame. Some poor girl was strolling back home on High St, looking like a hot mess...in what was clearly her outfit from the previous evening...and hair that looked like it had gone through a wind tunnel. My only regret is that I couldn't get my camera out in time. (This demonstrates my earlier windows/people watching compliment for this particular location)
Overall, if you are looking for a good laugh and perhaps a walk down memory lane, visit the Panera located on High Street- OSU Campus.
